Launch Guide: From Idea to Your First Dollar
A simple, easy-to-follow guide for starting a real micro-business with limited time and money.
Step 1: Pick a Hustle You Can Actually Start
The best hustle is not the sexiest one. It is the one you can launch this month.
Ask yourself:
- Can I explain this in one sentence?
- Can someone pay me for this within 30 days?
- Do I already have 70% of what I need?
Good examples:
- Lawn care, snow removal, junk hauling
- Etsy crafts, print‑on‑demand designs
- Tech help for seniors or small businesses
- Tutoring, cleaning, organizing, pet care
Red flag: anything that requires investors, certifications you do not have yet, or a complex app.
Step 2: Define the Smallest Sellable Version
Do not launch the full dream. Launch the minimum sellable version.
Examples:
- Not “Web Design Company” → “$99 one‑page website”
- Not “Handmade Jewelry Brand” → “10 bracelets on Etsy”
- Not “Coaching Program” → “One paid 30‑minute session”
Your first goal is not growth. Your first goal is proof.
Step 3: Name It (Without Overthinking It)
Your name does not need to be perfect. It needs to be:
- Easy to spell
- Easy to say
- Not already taken locally
Rules:
- Avoid clever spellings
- Avoid hyphens if possible
- If stuck, use [Your Town] + What You Do
You can rebrand later. Most successful hustles do.
